ONFARM Consulting was established in 1996 to provide agricultural advice to South Gippsland farmers in all aspects of dairy and beef production. Since then we have grown to service all grazing areas of Victoria and have gained the reputation for providing sound practical advice that recognises the personal and financial constraints under which a farm business may be operating.
While our core business remains farm based, focusing in particular on the drivers of profit, our services are being called on ever more frequently by the agricultural sector in general, to provide training, facilitation and expertise in project development and management. Our commitment is to a sustainable, profitable, knowledgeable Victorian grazing industry.
Matt Harms
Matt holds a Bachelor of Agricultural Science with Honours from Melbourne University and has worked in the Victorian grazing industry for over fourteen years. He contributes a broad range of experience to Onfarm.
His early employment with Ridley Agri Products in the areas of animal nutrition, sales and marketing, involved providing nutritional advice to Gippsland dairy and beef farmers. In his later role of National Product Manager in the Supplement Division he was also able to develop expertise in the areas of extensive beef and sheep farming, as well as feedlotting.
On moving to Murray Goulburn Dairy Co-Operative in its Field Services Division, where he rose to be Field Services Manager at Leongatha, Matt’s role changed to closely working with dairy farmers, providing advice on dairy production systems, budgeting, dairy nutrition, farm labour analysis, farm business management analysis and sharefarm/ lease arrangements. He facilitated several discussion groups as well as working one to one with farmers.
Matt also operates his own beef enterprise in South Gippsland producing vealers for the domestic market.
